A Little About Us

We are Ken & Darla Jones and we are K n D Kennels.

We live in (or just out of) the great little town of Denison, in North Central Texas.

Before we start,, Let us please ask that you look for your puppy wisely. If you do not see what you like among our babies,, look elsewhere but PLEASE go to a reputable breeder....Not a pet store... Not a puppy broker,,, and NOT a puppy mill. We will not be offended if you tell us that we do not really have what you are looking for,, that is fine. You are best to get a puppy that you KNOW you will love and will be happy with you. If we cannot help you... ASK us if we maybe know a (good) breeder that can. We know good breeders all over America and I am sure we can recomend one near you that has exactly the babies you crave.
When you find that breeder.. ask questions, ask questions and then ask MORE questions.

Now,, back to us.... Put simply, myself, an Australian (Ken) and a Texan (Darla) are a couple that love our little family of Rat Terriers (please do not tell them that they are in fact dogs). Any of you that already have a rat terrier know what we mean. These little puppies take about 5 minutes to win your heart and about another 10 minutes to take over your house.

We started with Missy Jones who was a tiny little baby when we got her in April, 2000. We thought, well, one cute little puppy will do us fine (anyone that has a rat terrier is already saying "YEAH RIGHT").

Then we decided ,,,,, OK,,, we might get a male,, to be a companion,,, a pair,, a set.... Good plan, Ken.

OK,,, OK,,, I do not need to go any further, you all know we have more than one "pair" now, so just enjoy a look at our family and do not say you will get just one, cause like a little rat terrier, that statement will come back to bite ya on the bum. Ask any Rat Terrier mummy and daddy.

All of our puppies are registered and pedigreed with the United Kennel Club (UKC) and AKC FSS... and of course come with papers.

"The Rat Terrier is an energetic, alert dog whose curiosity and intelligence make him easy to train. The Rat Terrier has sometimes been described as having a dual personality. He is a fearless, tenacious hunter with seemingly unlimited energy. When he is not hunting, however, the Rat Terrier is an exceptionally friendly companion, getting along well with children, other dogs, and even cats. Rat Terriers enjoy human companionship immensely and will enthusiastically share any activity with their owners. Rat Terriers should not be sparred during conformation judging."

Now, pay attention. If you want a puppy that will be around you all the time, at your feet, on your lap while watching T.V., always eager to go out for a drive, happy to let you sleep with him in YOUR bed, sleep under the covers to keep your feet warm to name just a few of their talents. Well you need a Rat Terrier.

If you want a puppy that will freely love you, freely kiss you, be a long time companion, loyal, take part in all activities you choose to start and just be simply a friend. Well, again, you need a Rat Terrier.

Rat Terriers are all these things and much much more. They are bred to obey and to hunt. We have managed to spoil ours as you will do.

If you want a dog that you can tie outside and not go near,,,, please do not get any dogs at all, dogs do not need you. Before you get your dog, research,, see what YOU can offer a dog, not what a dog can offer you. It is your job to provide the best home you can for that puppy, please remember that.

Our Rat Terriers are small, short haired, low maintenance, active, fiesty and very loving. Beware, they do not believe they are little. They have BIG DOG hearts in tiny dog bodies.

ALL our puppies live in the house with us. The adult boy's do not get to live in the house full time for obvious reasons ..lol
All our dogs are family.

Raw is our main base diet. We also feed Diamond Naturals-Chicken & Rice Adult Dog Formula when needed. If raw is not feasible we find this to be the best. It is as good as any "name" or designer food without the high costs. We will let our puppies nice shiny coats be our proof. We feed ourselves food we enjoy, why feed our puppies rubbish that may be cheaper at first? We know, in the long term it is not cheaper at all.

Please be aware of puppy rule #237...ANY food left on mom or dad's plate for more than a few seconds is MINE. There are a lot more puppy rules that your Rat Terrier will teach you. Trust us.
